18.88% of target population in Iligan fully vaccinated vs Covid-19

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–While daily infections are still rising, the City Health Office (CHO) here reported progress in its vaccination program against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Belinda Lim disclosed during the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Public Briefing live streamed Wednesday, October 6, on the city government’s official Facebook page that they reached 18.88% or 49,262 of the city’s target population for herd immunity against Covid-19 as of October 1.

Lim said 100% of the 3,626 target healthcare workers (A1) have been fully vaccinated while 96% of the 18,438 target people with comorbidities (A3) also received complete doses of vaccines.

A total of 1,919 Iliganons who are family members of healthcare workers (A1 expanded) were also fully immunized against the coronavirus.

Among senior citizens, the city health office (CHO) fully vaccinated 14,071 or 54% of the 25,862 target.

CHO, however, lags in the essential non-health workers(A4) and indigent population (A5) groups. Only 11,952 essential workers in both the public and private sectors were fully inoculated out of the 22,131 who received the first dose.

For the A5, only 76 were fully vaccinated while 3,536 have received their first dose.

With this, Lim called on employers to submit the list of their essential workers to the CHO so that they will be given an appointment slip for the vaccination.

Lim also appealed to village leaders, purok presidents, and Pantawid Pamilya cluster heads to help the CHO encourage indigent Iliganons to get vaccinated.

‘Among gipanawagan ang mga barangay kapitan, purok president sa lain-laing nga mga barangays, ang mga cluster heads sa 4Ps nga istoryahon ug e-orient ang atong mga gingsakopan aron maencourage ug makasabot nga ang pinakaimportante nga mabatok nato sa Covid-19  mao ang pagpabakuna,” she said.

[We call on barangay captains, purok presidents of various barangays, cluster heads of 4Ps to talk to and orient our constituents to encourage them and make them understand that the most important thing to fight Covid-19 is vaccination.]

The Iligan City government’s goal is to inoculate 260,940 Iliganons to achieve population protection. (APB/PIA Lanao del Norte)
