630 MisOr workers benefit from P2.2-M DOLE TUPAD wages

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)–Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, represented by Department of Labor and Employment Undersecretary Renato L. Ebarle personally pays out Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) or DOLE’s emergency employment program worth P2,299,500 to some 630 Misamis Oriental workers, October 26 at Salay and Balingoan towns, Misamis Oriental.

DOLE-10 Regional Director Albert E. Gutib said the P3,650 grant per beneficiary serves as payment for the ten-day work on social community services like road cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation of local government unit areas.

Gutib said Ebarle pays out 318 beneficiaries in Balingoan Central School, Misamis Oriental from the Municipal governments of Balingoan with 80 beneficiaries, Kinoguitan (80), Medina (79), and Talisayan (79).

Likewise, Ebarle proceeds to Salay Municipal Gym, Misamis Oriental to pay the wages of 312 beneficiaries of the municipal governments of Salay with 80 beneficiaries, Sugbongcogon (72), Lagonglong (80), and Binuangan (80).

Ebarle is joined by Misamis Oriental 1st Congressional District Representative Christian S. Unabia, Balingoan Municipal Mayor Aaron Paul S. Unabia, Salay Municipal Mayor Angelo G. Capistrano, Jr., and DOLE-10 Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office Chief Errol A. Natividad.

DOLE’s TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of ten days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
