Active Covid-10 cases in Lanao del Sur down to 71

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) reported that the number of active coronavirus disease (Covid)-19 cases in the province has gone down to 71 on July 4 as more recoveries were recorded.

The latest IPHO report showed that 2,529 of the 2,699 total confirmed cases have recovered at a recovery rate of 94% while the positivity rate is pegged at an average of 11.6%.

Of the active cases, 51 are distributed in 19 municipalities of the province while 20 are from 12 barangays of Marawi City.

In terms of clinical status, 37 are asymptomatic, 19 are with mild symptoms, 12 moderate, and three (3) severe.

IPHO chief Dr. Alinader Minalang noted that while the cases are going down and other parameters are improving, the public must continue to follow minimum health protocols such as wearing face masks, washing of hands frequently, observing physical distancing, and avoiding big social gatherings.

“We should remain vigilant and never lower our guards in safeguarding our province from the entry or spread of Covid-19 virus especially with the threat of new Delta variant which is considered to be more communicable and deadly,” he said.

Minalang, who at the same time the deputy chairperson of the Provincial IATF on Emerging Infectious Diseases, also called on the public to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from the severe complications of Covid-19.

As of June 27, a total of 29,238 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were already inoculated to priority groups A1 (medical frontliners), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities).

Vaccination at the Provincial Capitol Tennis Court resumes on Monday, July 5 and July 12.  The Resbakuna teams of IPHO are also set to conduct the second round of vaccination rollout in the municipalities of Piagapo on July 5; Malabang and Kapatagan on July 6; Buadipuso Buntong, Lumbayanague, and Tubaran on July 7; Maguing and Bumbaran on July 8; Mulondo on July 12; Kapai and Tagoloan on July 13; Sultan Dumalondong and Butig on July 14; and Balindong, Calanogas, and Tugaya on July 15.
