CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—Seeking ways to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Pagatpat equips their public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers on the proper disinfection of the hands and their vehicle.
During the CORDS-X Podcast with Presidential Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, July 4, Barangay Pagatpat SK Chair Jem Rey Catunao said the drivers were very cooperative with their initiative “gidawat gyud kini sa mga drayber sa mga pampublikong sakyanan. Ila kining gipanggamit gayud; ilang gipangtudluan gayud ang atong mga pasahero (this was accepted by the public utility vehicle drivers. They really used the disinfectants; they taught our passengers on proper disinfection).”
Even if they spend their own money to enforce strategies to respond to COVID-19 contagion, Catunao said any form of help is needed. Thus, they really don’t mind if they are extending too much to serve others.
“Karong panahona dapat magtinabanga kita (In this time of crisis, we should help one another),” the SK chair added.
Aside from rolling out proper disinfection information and distribution of disinfectants, the SK also participates in online discussion on COVID-19 response in the city.
Catunao also cited the youth’s participation in the barangay particularly on the observance of curfew.
“Life is short. We only live once so dapat magtinabangay kita ug magsalig kita sa Kahitas-an. Unta magpatuo kita sa mga balaod nga gihimo ug giimplementar sa atong gobyerno (so we need to help each other and we have to trust God. I hope that everyone will comply to the rules set and implemented by the government),” Catunao said. (RTP/PIA10)
