CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–Targeting to promote cleanliness and create attractions in their area amid the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Tagpangi, here, holds the Quaranzone Beautification Contest.
“We launched the Quaranzone Beautification Contest, August 30 during the Linggo ng Kabataan to get in touch with the community members as to how they are coping with COVID-19,” Barangay Tagpangi SK Chair Alaizaville Mendoza said during the CORDS-X Podcast with Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, November 21.
She added that health protocols are also posted in the said spots to remind the residents on what should be observed during the quarantine noting that they could hardly reach their residents for effective information dissemination with the poor communication signal in their area.
“Even before the pandemic, the youth are very active nga muparticipate sa tanang programa sa SK (to participate in all of the programs of the SK),” Mendoza said.
The youth also helped the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) and the barangay in providing food packs and hygiene kits.
The SK chair said the youth have become the frontliners of the barangay thus, the council ensured that they are protected and given proper attention.
Because youth is very important in nation building, Mendoza said, “We should always use our voice sa tamang pamaagi (in the right way), to encourage members of the society to participate.” (RTP/PIA10)
