Bukidnon farmers get new agri equipment from DA NorMin

DALWANGAN, Malaybalay City (PIA)–The Department of Agriculture in Northern Mindanao turned over agricultural equipment to three farmer associations of Talakag, Bukidnon worth P889,811 in a simple ceremony at DA-10’s Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC).

DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado turned over three units power tiller-riding type, four sets of water pump and engine to Tig-ason Farmers Association, Inc. (TIFA, Inc.), Dominorog Small Farmers Association (DOSFA) and Talakag Irrigators Agro-Producers Coop (TIAPCO).

“Provision of said agri equipment is in support to the thrust of the agency to increase productivity and reduce poverty among the marginalized sectors in agriculture and fishery,” said Collado.

The Tig-Ason Farmers Association also received one unit corn sheller funded under the Normalization Program of the agency in addressing poverty reduction and vulnerability in conflict areas and improved governance.

Collado said, “The agri equipment will enable the beneficiaries to capacitate themselves and provide more opportunities for meaningful sources of livelihood.”

DOSFA Chair Reynaldo C. Verde, meanwhile, thanked the government, through DA, for helping them achieve their dreams of acquiring such farm tools that they can hardly afford to buy.  

“Natuman ra ang among damgo pinaagi sa DA nga naka angkon mi sa unang higayon ug ekipo. Dako ang among pasalamat tungod kay dako ni ug ikatabang sa among pang-uma nga maoy among gisaligan nga panginabuhian. (Through DA, our dream to own for the first time an agri equipment was realized. We are grateful, for this could greatly help us in our farming activities where we depend for a living),” Verde shared.

This project implementation of DA-10 is in partnership with the local government of Talakag, Bukidnon thru Mayor Vergeto O. Factura, particularly in directing strategic production areas. (DA10/PIA Bukidnon)
