Camiguin further restricts travels after code red alert

CAMIGUIN, Mar. 9 (PIA)–As the Department of Health (DOH) raises Coronavirus Disease (COVID)-19 alert system to Code Red Sublevel 1, the Provincial Government of Camiguin imposes temporary restrictions to all persons who have travelled to the People’s Republic of China and its administrative regions, and to Gyeonsang Province, Deagu City, and Chongdo County of South Korea within the last three months before arriving in the province, March 7.

Through the Executive Order No. 10A series of 2020, Provincial Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo gives prime importance to the public health and safety of the residents. It shall take effect immediately and be imposed until COVID-19 has been declared by the health authority as cleared and safe.

Recently, DOH confirms local transmission of COVID-19 in the country after one patient has an untraceable travel history. Thus, President Rodrigo Duterte declares National Health Emergency after the said case.

Code Red Alert is raised when a local transmission is reported. This kind of level could possibly peak into a community transmission beyond capacity.  As response, contact tracing will intensified, surveillance be expanded, active testing is conducted, and strict enforcement of home quarantine is enforced.
