Camiguin PHO named Red Orchid Award Hall of Famer

CAMIGUIN (PIA)—Strictly complying with the rules and regulations promoting a 100 percent smoke-free environment, the Provincial Health Office of Camiguin is named a Hall of Famer as it bagged its third Red Orchid Award, October 30 held at Cagayan de Oro City.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Capitol of Camiguin earned its second year of 100 percent Tobacco-Free award while the Rural Health Unit of Catarman got the Purple Ribbon Award for their good and exemplary practices and initiatives in improving contraceptive prevalence rate, and innovation that contributes to the rapid reduction of maternal death and achieves the desired family size of Filipinos. 

Spearheaded by the Department of Health, the Red Orchid Awards calls for the absolute smoking ban in DOH offices, hospitals and attached agencies, government offices, and encouraged local government units to do the same in their health facilities and other public places.

The winners are judged based on the strength of the comprehensive efforts to implement the 100 percent smoke-free environment. Winners of Red Orchid for three consecutive years will automatically receive a Hall of Fame award. (Recthie T. Paculba/PIA10)
