Camiguin sets rules for land transpo service

CAMIGUIN (PIA)—Through Executive Order No. 23-A, all public land transportation services are now required to operate at 50 percent passenger capacity to ensure adequate physical distance among passengers and further prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19.

Motorela services are allowed to operate given that they abide with the municipal rules and regulations.

Multicab and jeepney services shall only be allowed to operate after complying with the requirements of the Department of Transportation.

With the high risk of COVID-19 transmission through shared helmets and close physical contact between passenger and driver, single motorcycle or habal-habal services are suspended during the General Community Quarantine.

Municipal governments must also require public land transportation services to operate on a point-to-point basis, designate loading and unloading areas, set transportation schedules.

“We do this to minimize risks to public health and ensure social distancing,” Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said. (RTP/PIA10)
