Cayetano, allies to distribute 10k cash aid to nearly 200 beneficiaries

Former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and his allies are set to distribute P10,000 each to nearly 200 beneficiaries from 13 cities and provinces in the country on Saturday, Labor Day.

The “Sampung Libong Pag-Asa” initiative will cover beneficiaries from the poorest and most vulnerable sectors in Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Camarines Sur, Caloocan City, Marikina City, Quezon City, Taguig City, Mandaluyong City, Pateros, Sta. Rosa City in Laguna, Antipolo City in Rizal, and Ormoc City in Leyte.

The distribution of cash aid will be broadcast live on Cayetano’s official Facebook page.

The initiative is organized by Cayetano, his wife Taguig City 2nd District Rep. Ma. Laarni Cayetano, and their allies Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte, Jr., Batangas 2nd District Rep. Raneo Abu, Laguna 1st District Dan Fernandez, Anakalusugan Party-List Rep. Mike Defensor, and Bulacan 1st District Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado.

The initiative will be part of the group’s campaign to provide Filipinos with cash aid to help their families purchase their basic needs and revive their sources of income amid the ongoing pandemic.

Cayetano and his allies filed the 10k Ayuda Bill in February, aiming to expand and extend the government’s cash aid program for Filipino families.

The proposed measure, however, is still pending deliberation at the House of Representatives Committee on Economic Affairs.

Between February and April this year, the group distributed P10,000 each to a total of 38 beneficiaries from Caloocan City, Pasig City, Quezon City, and Cavite.
