Former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano distributed food packs and donations to the Muslim community in his home district of Taguig on Thursday afternoon, May 13.
Cayetano joined the Muslim community in observing Eid’l Fitr at the Maharlika Elementary School in Taguig.
A total of 100 Muslim leaders and around 9,000 families each received a Box of Love and City Family Kits containing food packs and hygiene kits.
Present with Cayetano during Thursday’s ceremonies were Taguig 2nd District Rep. Lani Cayetano, Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano, and Taguig Vice Mayor Ricardo Cruz Jr, who all assisted Cayetano in leading Taguig City’s annual observance dedicated to Muslim residents.
In his message, Cayetano commended the leadership exhibited by Muslim administrators in preserving the Islamic faith in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga Muslim administrators natin sa Taguig, mga imam, bilal, at ulama, pati na rin sa aking mga kapatid sa pananampalataya. Alam kong napakahirap ng buhay natin ngayon dulot ng pandemya, pero nakatayo pa rin tayo. Ang ating sama-samang lakas ay galing lamang sa biyaya ng Maykapal,” ani Cayetano.
(I thank all the Muslim administrators, the imam, bilal, and ulama, as well as my brothers and sisters in faith. I know the pandemic has made life hard for all of us, but we are still standing. Our shared strength can only come from our faith in the Almighty.)
