CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY(PIA)—The City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) of the city government now fully implements the “Plastic Bag Regulation” for dry goods in markets and establishments in the city.
Based on City Ordinance 13378-2018 or the Integrated Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance, business establishments, fast food outlets, pharmacies, food kiosks, convenience stores, and ambulant vendors are restricted from using plastic cellophane in packing their goods except for meat and fish, Clenro Chief Armen Cuenca said.
The said ordinance also states that “wet goods already packed in plastic wraps, pouches, bags as part of product packaging shall not be contained in any plastic bags.”
With this, the local government reminds all business establishments and markets to comply with the said ordinance to avoid penalties.
The local government will also start to issue an Ordinance Violation Receipt in the city.
Clenro urges the public to bring their own eco-bags when going to the market or malls. (CIO/PIA10)
