CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–About P30 million will be allocated by the city government to fund the modular learning program of the Department of Education (DepEd)-10 for the city’s public schools, Mayor Oscar Moreno said, June 16.
“Superintendent Cherry Mae Limbaco mentioned the funding requirement for the program which runs up to P71 million and I told her that the city can budget P30 million (as counterpart),” Moreno said.
The DepEd modular learning program will allow the country’s public schools to adopt a combination of face-to-face learning, online instruction, home schooling and distance learning to allow students to continue their education without compromising on minimum health safety protocols like physical distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Enrolment is ongoing and the 2020 school year is scheduled to open sometime in August. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Moreno assured the LGU’s continuing support for its scholarship program which funded the education of more than 3,000 city scholars.
“Support for education has never been a debatable issue for the city government. Even now there are school building projects that are scheduled for completion and turnover,” Moreno said. (CIO/PIA10)
