Community dev’t plans seen to transform MILF communities

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)–With the harmonization efforts of stakeholders in this province through community development plans, Camp Bilal and its three based commands are seen to be transformed into progressive communities.

In a virtual meeting, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Lanao del Norte provincial director Bruce Colao presented the framework on the harmonization and convergence approach on the MILF Camp Transformation and Community Development.

“The framework will be further endorsed to the council to intensify and strengthen the processes needed to accomplish the said development plan and provide immediate help to all the communities in the province,” he said.

Colao also shared the proposed projects and programs planned out by the MILF communities namely 123rd Base Command in Tagoloan town, 125th Base Command in Tangcal, 127th Base Command, and Camp Bilal in Munai.

Some of the projects and programs proposed were the construction of school buildings, barangay health station, water system, irrigation system, madrasah schools, among others. Peace leadership training for former combatants and capacity development were also recommended specifically.

Colao said that the proposed plans and projects of 123rd Base Command during the harmonization workshop were already identified by the municipality of Tagoloan.

He was also amazed that the 125th Base Command in Tangcal included the construction of a playground for their children. According to him, this is important to provide psychosocial support and healing for children, especially in a conflict-affected area.

This effort is related to the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Resolution No.4, series of 2021 that seeks to harmonize the MILF Community with the local government unit development plans. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
