DepEd Marawi cites importance of handwashing facilities

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)– As the pandemic continues to pose threats, the Department of Education (DepEd) Marawi City Schools Division emphasized the importance of handwashing facilities in schools.

During the turn-over of the handwashing facility in Hadji Hassan Elementary School (ES) in Barangay Malimono, DepEd Marawi Division Nurse Rohana Usman cited the need for frequent handwashing especially this time of pandemic as it curbs the incidence of diseases caused by poor hygiene and sanitation programs.

“Handwashing is a universal precaution. Before, it is really a reality that is one of the important measures that will mitigate the spread of microorganisms before this pandemic,” she said.

Usman also conveyed appreciation to the World Vision Philippines for their support in providing child-friendly spaces that provide health protection and psychosocial support to the pupils.

“We are very fortunate for having a potential partner, the World Vision, for their genuine commitment in supporting the handwashing facility of City schools of Marawi.  We share a common vision to develop a child who is physically and mentally healthy,” she said.

The division head nurse also reminded the parents and the community to support and take care of the facilities turned over to them as part of helping the children who are vulnerable to infectious diseases.
