Police Regional Office 12 – Joint Operatives of Saranggani Provincial Police Office in coordination with Philippine Army conducted a Law Enforcement Operation which resulted in the arrest of the vice commander of Guerilla Front 73 of Communist, NPA Terrorist (CNT) Monday of October 15, 2019.
Arrested suspect was identified as Jonie Calaba a.k.a Jepoy 25yrs. old, resident of Sitio Tinipakan, Brgy Santa Clara, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
Calaba is known to be the vice leader of Platoon Cherry Mobile of GF-73 FSMR, CNT operating in the area of Barangay San Jose, General Santos City and municipalities of Banga, Tupi, Polomolok, Lake Sebu, and T’boli all of South Cotabato and Kiamba, Sarangani Province.
By virtue of warrant of arrest Calaba was arrested for crime of Arson with No Bail Recommended. Calaba’s group was held responsible for burning of the heavy equipment owned by Silvicultural Industries Inc. on March 7, 2015 at Brgy Hinalaan, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat with an estimated damaged amounting to Thirty Five Million Pesos (Php. 35,000,000.00).
Subject arrested wanted person was then brought to Sarangani Police Provincial Office for proper documentation and disposition.
According to PBGEN ALFRED S CORPUS, RD, PRO 12, Calaba’s arrest marked the 4th accomplishment of this PRO against CNT for this month. It can be recalled that, on October 9, 2019 Ramel Baltukan Matagal a.k.a ALAS,Team Leader of Team Abe, Platoon South/Central, GF 71, NPA turned himself in to PNP and AFP because of unbearable hardships he suffered being an NPA rebel and for fear of losing his life due to Intensified Tactical Offensive Measures conducted by State Security Forces.
A day after his surrender, a member of GF 73, NPA who is also tagged as South Cotabato’s Number 1 Most Wanted Person namely, Tirso Camral Andres was neutralized on a law enforcement operation by Lake Sebu MPS. Andres has criminal charges for Murder, Frustrated Murder, Attempted Murder, Violation in Anti-cattle Rustling Law and several other cases.
Later of the same day, Nicanor Claro Pason a.k.a Ronron/Costan, Top Executive of GF 73, NPA who has seven warrants of arrest for the charges of Murder, Frustrated Murder, violation of article 271 (Inducing a minor to abandon his home) of RPC in relation to RA 7610, Rebellion, Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention and three (3) of his Cohorts was apprehended on a Checkpoint at Maitum, Sarangani Province after attempting to throw a fragmentation grenade while trying to evade inspection.
“The series of apprehension of these CNT members is a great accomplishment for us. This is a result of our Intensified Intel Driven Operations in cooperation with our AFP counterpart coupled with the help of the community towards the aim of weakening the line of the communist terrorist party.
