CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 sets in motion the Roll-Out to Barangays on the Advocacy on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) starting with selected barangays from the Municipality of Lantapan, Bukidnon, November 16.
The PCVE Roll-Out, which will be conducted virtually, has a total of 80 target barangays from the different cities/municipalities of Bukidnon.
The participants from the target barangays are the Punong Barangay, SK Chairperson, Committee Chair on Peace and Order, Committee Chair on Women and Children, Lupon Chair, Chief Barangay Tanod, Barangay Tanod and a Public School Teacher.
The activity aims to intensify awareness and involvement of the local communities in the implementation of the National Action Plan on PCVE.
Furthermore, it targets to develop a proactive attitude of the community in addressing violent extremism and other threats to peace and security; and reiterate the modified PVE module that shall strengthen the knowledge of the local communities in the prevention of violent extremism
“Isip nga mga gipili nga opisyales ug mga sinaligan sa katawhan angay pud kitang mahibalo sa mga problema nga gi-atubang sa atong nasud ug unsa atong mga tahas ug gimbuhaton aron masolbad kini,” said DILG Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe.

In collaboration with DILG Bukidnon, 4th Infantry Division, Philippine National Police-10, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-10 and Bureau of Fire Protection-10, the training focused on (1) Strengthening Filipino Values, (2) Violent Extremism and Terrorism Problem in the Philippines, (3) Vulnerable Sectors in Radicalization, (4) Community Anti-Terrorism Awareness, and (5) NAP on P/CVE.
Other topics discussed include the Regional Peace and Order Situation Updates, Overview of Barangay at Pulisya Laban sa Krimen (BPLK) and an Overview of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN).
For barangays with low internet connectivity, recordings of the discussions have been prepared which will then be facilitated by DILG Bukidnon. (DILG10/PIA10)
