OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)– The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Misamis Occidental conducted a capacity enhancement training for local government units (LGUs) on the Disbandment of Private cum Strengthening Communication Strategies on Mandanas-Garcia Ruling, December 7 at Habitacion, Oroquieta City.
This is to strengthen the capacities of LGUs to resist violence and participate in peacebuilding that can bring out community resilience and provide them the opportunity to participate and take part in providing solutions to the causes of the private armed groups.
DILG Cluster Head Sanivier Patoc emphasized the importance of the participant’s active engagement in the Government’s relentless campaign to dismantle and disband private armed groups and uphold peace and order in the province.
Meanwhile, MOCPPO’s Chief of Provincial Operations Management Unit PMaj Jenrech Hilot, one of the Resource Speakers, presented the peace and order situation across the province.
He further urged the participants to continue to work with the law enforcement agencies despite the absence of private armed groups in the region.
Highlights of the activity were the signing and declaration of the Pledge of Commitment led by the government officials as a gesture of their full support, assistance, and cooperation to the National Task Force for the Disbandment of Private Armed Groups (NTF-DPAGs) in carrying out its mandate and functions.
Liga ng Mga Barangay Presidents, Provincial, City and Municipal Peace and Order Representatives, Local Information Officers, other local functionaries, and DILG Field Officers attended the activity.
Also present were the personnel of DILG Misamis Occidental, spearheaded by Provincial Director Pablio Benitez, Jr. to provide technical support and assistance during the activity. (DILG MisOcc/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
