CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–A total of 8,654 or 99.47 percent of the first batch of 8,700 health workers in Northern Mindanao to be given the CoronaVac (Sinovac) vaccines were already vaccinated starting March 5-11, according to the Department of Health (DOH)-10.
During the weekly virtual press conference of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 (RIATF), DOH-10 OIC-Assistant Regional Director David A. Mendoza said the first vaccine rollout of COVID-19 in the region has been successful so far with 99.47 percent accomplishment.
“Upon the arrival of the second batch of vaccines, AstraZeneca, the rollout continues targeting 19,714 health care workers. DOH-10 hopes to have a 100 percent vaccination rate this time,” Mendoza said.
Meanwhile, Mendoza disclosed that the recovery rate of COVID-19 cases in the region is at 89.7 percent and the fatality rate is at 3.49 percent, that is 3 or 4 people of every 100 COVID-19 positive patients die of the disease.
As of March 11, Region 10 has 814 active cases and 43 new cases.
Mendoza also reported that some 141 individuals or 1.6 percent got minor adverse effects since the vaccine rollout.
Hospitals, independent clinics, infirmaries and Temporary Treatment Management Facilities (TTMFs). are the next target of the vaccine rollout, according to Mendoza.
