DOH-10 to give booster jab, 3-day ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of Health-Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH-CHDNM) will inoculate booster jabs to A1 priority group and will facilitate a three-day ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2021,’ November 29 to December 1, 2021.

“The three-day simultaneous national COVID-19 vaccination campaign dubbed “Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2021” would be the culmination of our targets to have 70% first dosers so that by the end of December we will attain also 70% percent herd immunity in our region and nation,” said DOH-10 Regional Director Dr. Jose Llacuna, Jr. in a press briefing.

The event is aimed to vaccinate a total of 15 million Filipinos or five million Filipinos per day nationwide, as announced by vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr.

Meanwhile, the DOH central office released Department Memorandum No. 0484 that directs the administration of booster doses for priority group A1.

“The priority group A1.1 to A1.7 will be given a single dose of COVID 19 vaccine as booster dose either of the same brand or another brand six months after the completion of his primary dose series of either Sinovac, Moderna, Astrazeneca, or Pfizer and at least three months after completion of his single primary dose of Janssen or Johnson & Johnson vaccine,” said DOH-CHDNM Assistant Regional Director Dr. Ellenieta Gamolo.

Gamolo also added that unlike the first implementation of the vaccination rollout, priority group A1 shall be given the option to choose whether he/she shall receive a homologous (same brand) or a heterologous (another brand) booster dose, depending on their availability at the vaccination sites.

As of November 16, the region has reached 32.38% herd immunity. Further, a total of 2,468,569 doses has been administered, meanwhile, 1,098,989 individuals have been fully vaccinated. The provinces’ herd immunity include Bukidnon at 30%; Camiguin 39.86%; Lanao del Norte 19.17%; Misamis Occidental 36.43%; Misamis Oriental 29.28%; Cagayan de Oro City 53.48%; and Iligan City 29.22%.
