DOLE Camiguin gives 16 livelihood projects to child laborers’ parents

CAMIGUIN (PIA)—Targeting to alleviate child labor in the province, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Camiguin turned over 16 individual livelihood projects to parents of child laborers from Sagay and Catarman towns.

Through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Programs (DILEEP), the projects, which amounted to P209,980 were given to the parents, September 17.

The livelihood provided include the enhancement of fish vending, hog raising, enhancement of fishing equipment, sari-sari store, and starter kits for carpentry projects. 

The DOLE livelihood assistance aims to enhance the parents’ capacity to raise their own children. Under the Guidelines of the DILEEP, beneficiaries should not allow their children to be engaged in child labor. 

The livelihood assistance provided can be in the form of Negokart, starter kits, or materials needed to start a livelihood undertaking. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
