DOLE-X releases DILEEP assistance to 2 Oroquieta livelihood associations

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-X released P500,000 worth of financial assistance to two associations here through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

DOLE Misamis Occidental Provincial Office turned over checks worth P250,000 each to Upper Langcangan Senior Citizen Association and Grupo ng Kababaihan sa Lower Loboc Association on September 24, 2019.

With the assistance, DOLE Provincial Office Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo said 141 members of Upper Langcangan Senior Citizen Association and 50 members of Grupo ng Kababaihan sa Lower Loboc Association are set to benefit from their Rice Trading Livelihood project and Mini Grocery Store project, respectively.

“We are happy that DILEEP caused to create employment for underprivileged members of the association towards the attainment of a sustainable livelihood undertaking that the community can also benefit,” he said.

During the ceremonial turnover, the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to DOLE-X and committed to undergo development training on skills enhancement, leadership, and values formation needed to grow their businesses.

DILEEP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises. (Jasmin L.
