DSWD-10 celebrates 71st anniv with multiple feats in services

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–Highlighting the regional agency’s success in 2021 where they met 100% on most of their targets, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 celebrates its 71st anniversary with week-long activities starting March 21.

“We have been serving the most vulnerable and oppressed communities for 71 years. Collectively, here we are all in 2022, slowly we are thriving and condescending the limitations set by the pandemic,” DSWD-10 Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga said during the anniversary kick-off at SM Downtown Premier, March 21.

The regional director further cited their 2021 accomplishments sharing that under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), an average of 266,665 or 98.01% active beneficiaries were funded out of 272,070 target households. 

In the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), 29,000 program participants were provided with modalities out of 26,366 target households. “Thus, giving us a 100% of the funded participants were able to establish their livelihood projects,” Dollaga added.

As for the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive and Integrated-Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS)–National Community-Driven-Development Project (KC-NCDDP), a total of 101 sub-projects such as farm-to-market roads, solar system, water system, among others had been constructed and completed. DSWD-10 is pushing forward the remaining 109 sub-projects for this year.

The regional office provided a supplementary feeding program to 153,514 daycare children and a total of 214,436 indigent senior citizens were also provided with a monthly stipend of P500 per month in 2021 under the Social Pension Program.

Twenty-five centenarians or 100-year-old senior citizens were also provided with P100,000 each by DSWD-10.

Also, 116,457 clients with a total disbursed funds of P1.4 billion  received different types of assistance such as medical, burial, transportation aid, among others under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).

Moreover, DSWD-10 distributed 366,674 family food packs to various localities affected by various types of calamity including the COVID-19 and typhoon Odette.

The  department also assists 100% or 98 LGUs in northern Mindanao under technical assistance and resource augmentation.

“We helped 265 survivors from our centers. These are women, young girls, and children who were in the most un-idealistic circumstances,” Dollaga said. 

Even with the said achievements, Dollaga further urged their workers to do more saying such relentless service to the marginalized sector is what the country really needs. 

A photo exhibit and info-service caravan are also held at SM Downtown Premier to heighten public’s awareness on the DSWD programs and services. (RTP/PIA-10)
