DSWD-10 distributes social pension to 6,643 senior citizens in Ozamiz

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 in coordination with the City Government of Ozamiz distributed the six month’s worth of social pension for 6,643 indigent senior citizens for this year that could help the latter sustain their needs amid the COVID-19 crisis. 


The senior citizen beneficiaries from the 51 barangays of Ozamiz City received their pension for the first semester amounting to P3,000 each at P500 per month from January to June.


The SocPen beneficiaries were from Barangay Stimson Abordo (97), Trigos (63), Gala (82), Capucao C. (49), Capucao P. (85), Liposong (59), Balintawak (43), Dimaluna (142), Cavinte (48), Pulot (217), Sangay Daku (63), Sangay Diot (29), Gotocan Daku (37), Gotocan Diot (48), Mentering (20), Carangan (140), Molicay (124);


Cogon (84), Kinuman Norte (67), Kinuman Sur (60), Guimad (41), Guingona (34), 50th Barangay (30), Aguada (193), Litapan (69), Manaka (39), Tabid (219), Labinay (145), Diguan (110), and Sinusa (139).


On June 25-26 DSWD-10 distributes the social pension to Barangay Labo with 112 senior citizen beneficiaries, Embargo (69), Maningcol (271), Calabayan (185), Dalapang (37), Pantaon (77), San Roque (163), Lam-an (154), Gango (316), Bongbong (120), Bagakay (138), Carmen Annex (222), Malaubang (686), Triunfo (71), Sta Cruz (95), San Antonio (191), Bacolod (93), Dona Consuelo (136), Catadman (212), Tinago (446), and Banadero (273).


SocPen is a program under Republic Act No. 9994 or the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010,” which provides monthly stipend amounting to P500 to indigent senior citizens to augment their daily subsistence and other medical needs.


Vice Mayor Simplicia Neri said the amount is intended to augment a senior citizen’s budget for daily provisions and medical needs.
