MARAWI CITY, Dec. 13 (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is in the fast lane in distributing various livelihood starter kits to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Marawi City.
As of Dec. 12, DTI has distributed around 31,000 starter kits, 62 percent of the total target of 50,000.
“We started distributing sewing machines, rice starter kits, carenderia kits. E-loading starter kits and grocery kits will soon be distributed,” said Rosalinda Pineda, DTI-TFBM Project Coordinator.
Beneficiaries of the starter kits expressed their gratitude to the agency for providing them assistance.
Jamel Hadji Ali of Lilod Guimba received a carenderia starter kit and expressed his gratitude as he will able to continue his business before the siege happened.
“Ako po ay nagpapasalamat sa kanila sa DTI, lalo na sa staff, kasi dil ang ako natutulungan nila, marami. Salamat po kasi bumalik na sa akin ang hanapbuhay ko,” said Ali.”
(I am grateful to DTI, especially to the staff, because they have helped many people, not just me. I am thankful that I can continue my business back then.)
Ali also urged his fellow IDPs to utilize the kits for their recovery.
“Sa mga IDPs, sana huwag nilang balewalain kasi napakalaking tulong na iyon para sa pangsimula sa hanapbuhay,” he added.

Meanwhile, Amera Canapia of Calocan East, recipient of rice kit, plans to add the rice kits to her business.
“Gusto po namin magpasalamt sa DTI kasi malaking tulong na ito sa amin at pangkabuhayan na ito. Pati sa TFBM para sa mga tulong na pinamimigay nila dito sa Marawi City,” said Canapia.
