OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental will go digital in celebration of Consumer Welfare Month this October.
With the theme, “Digital Consumer: The New Normal,” DTI will lead in dissemination of appropriate and useful information for consumers using various online platforms.
DTI Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan said, “It is really the best time to be able to reach out to as many consumers as possible to be able to understand the digital space and what we can do as digital consumers.”
Tabucan said the DTI formally started its information dissemination on sustainable consumption and production last year to educate consumers and businesses on the importance of responsible consumption, and sustainable and ethical production.
The director also underscored the government’s continued implementation of consumer welfare and protection programs especially in the utilization of electronic commerce.
“Amid the pandemic, we want to educate more consumers. We want them to be proactive, responsible, and informed consumers by adapting to the new normal platforms,” she said.
DTI has scheduled activities for the celebration namely virtual consumers session, diskwento caravan, consumer e-congress, and regional quiz ball. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
