Gingoog City police force embarks on ‘Scubasurero’

GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA)–Gingoog City police force is adhering to one of their core values “makakalikasan” or nature lover, as it embarks on “Scubasurero program.”

Guided by the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) core values of “Maka-Diyos”, “Makabayan”, “Makatao”, and “Makakalikasan,” Lt. Col. Ariel Pontillas, city police director, launched the “Scubasurero program” which aims to clean the underwater resources and save the underwater species here.

“We should give balance in giving services to the people and one of these is to protect the environment, adhering to our core values “makakalikasan.” This program gives notice in protecting and preserving the underwater resources including the underwater species,” Pontillas said during Secretary Martin Andanar’s CORDS X podcast.

Scubasurero program is being participated in by members of the Gingoog City Police force that recently finished their scuba schooling program led by the PNP-10 Regional Director Rolando Anduyan.

Pontillas also shared that the Department of Tourism (DOT)-10 Regional Director  Marie Elaine Unchuan threw her full support to the program, which aims to protect the ocean to boost the dive tourism industry of the city. Unchuan herself participated in the first and second dives.

Scubasurero is open to all qualified individuals who are passionate about restoring a healthy, natural underwater habitat for a balanced ecosystem. (JAKA/PIA10)
