Gingoog receives cash aid from for ECQ-affected locals

GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA)–The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 represented by Social Welfare and Development Team Leader Edgar Requilme recently turned over its Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) special assistance to the Local Finance Committee alongside City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa and City Administrator Elvin Y. Restituto to be distributed to individuals and families affected by the implementation of the city’s ECQ status for the mitigation of the spread of coronavirus (COVID)-19 contagion.

Cañosa extended his gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte and DSWD-10 Regional Director Mari-flor Dollaga-Libang for their support as the city experiences a huge economic and social disruption due to its ECQ status. Further, the mayor also thanked the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Gingoog for their support to facilitate the implementation of the program.

Nearly 53,000 families or individuals will receive such cash assistance based on the guidelines provided by DSWD-10 through funds handed over to the city amounting to P212,000,000 from the office of the President.

Based on the Joint Memorandum Circular or JMC No. 2, beneficiaries will receive P1,000 per individual and not exceeding to P4,000 for entire household affected by the implementation of the ECQ.

The distribution of the aid will begin, August 6, based on the proposal of Gingoog CSWD and DSWD to also comply with the minimum health standards and Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) regulations on ECQ protocols.

The City Government of Gingoog is now in the process of expediting its implementation while ensuring that all individuals or families affected by the community quarantine status are given proper assistance from the government. (VPSB/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
