E-commerce in the Philippines is thriving as consumers turn to online shopping. A Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) survey released in February 2021 showed that 69.8% of businesses had not tried e-commerce. DTI, however, wants to change things and help businesses, particularly those in Mindanao, to embrace digitalization.

E-commerce opens up opportunities for businesses wherever they may be located, as in the case of Mindanao. It is time for entrepreneurs in this region to use technology to unlock their full potential,” said DTI Region 11 Regional Director Ms. Maria Belenda Q. Ambi.

Zamboanga, on the other hand, is part of the Digital Cities Program of the Department of Information and Communications Technology and has already completed its five-year roadmap to create regionally relevant technology solutions that can be plugged into a more extensive national and international ecosystem.
