TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) – Members of the Association of Barangay Captains in the province of Lanao del Norte held an emergency meeting with Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo on Wednesday, June 3, to gain a better understanding on Executive Order (EO) No. 14, Series of 2020.
Signed by the Governor on May 31, the EO provided the guidelines on the declaration of Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in the entire province.
In her message, Governor Dimaporo recognized the effort of the Barangay Captains in actively responding to the call of the Provincial Government in monitoring and securing their respective communities for the safety of the residents.
She emphasized that Barangay Officials play a vital role in safeguarding their respective communities.
“The Provincial Government cannot do it alone; we have to continue work together in keeping the Province of Lanao del Norte free from COVID-19. These guidelines were created in accordance with the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) on MGCQ and after conducting series of consultative meetings with the various stakeholders, including the religious sectors in the province. This is not for my personal benefit, as Governor, it is my responsibility to protect the welfare of the people of Lanao del Norte,” she added.
Also present during the meeting were Vice Governor Maria Cristina N. Atay, Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Bruce A. Colao, PNP Provincial Director PCol Rene P. Solidarios, Schools Division Superintendent Edilberto L. Oplenaria, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Teresa M. Reponte, and Provincial Information Officer and IMT Incident Commander Lyndon Calica.
The Department of Education-Division of Lanao del Norte presented the “Guidelines on the Basic Education Enrollment for the School Year 2020-2021 in light of the COVID-19 National Public Health Emergency.”
Schools Division Superintendent Oplenaria expressed his gratitude to the Governor for continuously assisting the Division in providing continuous learning to the children amidst the threat of COVID-19.
Dr. Reponte, on the other hand, presented updates regarding COVID-19, including the health protocols implemented by the Provincial Government in managing the returning residents.
And as to the issuance of Travel Clearance by the Provincial Government, Calica said its purpose is to monitor the movement of the residents who are requesting to travel outside Lanao del Norte.
Upon their return, the said clearance will be given back to the IMT personnel manning the Quarantine Checkpoints at the borders before they are allowed to enter the province. He added that this is for proper documentation and the safety of the general public. (PIO-LDN)
