MARAWI CITY (PIA) — The provincial government of Lanao del Sur (PLGU LDS) has converted its housing project for provincial employees into a quarantine facility in preparation for an increase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the province.
Forty-six (46) newly constructed housing units at Purok Badak in Barangay Emie Punod in Marawi City will be utilized for COVID-19 patients or suspects in the city and province.
“This is a temporary shelter for the employees from the provincial capitol which will be temporarily used as community quarantine facility,” said Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong, Jr. in Maranao in a video posted by Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur Facebook page.
The units are equipped with water and electricity, facilities and furniture. The facility is also surrounded by fences and has an installed sanitation tent at the entrance.
The furnishing of the facility was supported by the PLGU-LDS, Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur, and the Makati Medical Foundation through the Marawi City Health Office. The Pepsi Cola Company through the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation also provided a water tank.
Meanwhile, the Marawi City government has also provided initial support through medical and non-medical supplies and personal protective equipment. The city government also committed to provide manpower by deploying nurses and doctors in the facility.
The facility will be operated by the Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur and the Amai Pakpak Medical Center with the supervision of the PLGU LDS. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
