IATF urges Iliganons to avoid gatherings during fiesta

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – Due to the continued threat of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19), an official of the Iligan Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Against COVID-19 urged Iliganons to avoid gatherings during the fiesta celebration.

“Sa pag abot sa fiesta, likayan sa nato ang pagdawat og mga bisita. Sa pagkakaron ato sang e focus ang pagflatten sa curve, ” said IATF Incident Commander FCI Butch Baulete in a virtual press briefing Tuesday.

(In the coming fiesta, we should avoid receiving guests. For now, we should focus on flattening the curve.)

He emphasized that safety measures against the COVID-19 contagion must take precedence in this year’s fiesta celebration.
“Sa karon ato gyud ge priority ang health sa matag Iliganon,” he further said.

(Right now, we prioritize the health of every Iliganon.)
The incident commander also encouraged Iliganons to observe a solemn fiesta celebration at home.

“Atong tagaan pagtagad atong pag ampo og atong pakighiusa sa gobyerno nga mapukgan ning COVID-19,” he added.

(Let us pay attention to our prayers and our solidarity with the government to stop this COVID-19.)

Meanwhile, Baulete noted that the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine contributed to the slowdown of infections in the city.

He also attributed the slowdown to other measures implemented by the IATF such as rapid containment, contact tracing, diagnostic testing, and color-coding of quarantine pass, among others.

As of September 24, a total of 669 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases were logged by the Iligan City Health Office, of which 149 are active cases, 488 have recovered and 32 have expired. Of the 149 active cases, 107 are quarantined in isolation facilities while 42 were admitted. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
