Iligan restricts entry of passenger, cargo vessels

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — The city government of Iligan has imposed certain restrictions on the entry of passenger or cargo vessels in the Port of Iligan effective March 19.


“No passenger or cargo vessel shall dock, anchor, stay or come in the Port of Iligan for the purpose of disembarking or loading passengers traveling to or out of Iligan City,” according to Executive Order No. 30 released today by the city government.


Exempted are cargo vessels loading or unloading essential commodities such as food, medical supplies. essential building materials, and needed spare parts, among others.


Moreover, members of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Marines, Air force, Fire Department, medical personnel, Philippine Red Cross and duly accredited first responders on duty or on a pertinent mission are also exempted from the prohibition of disembarking and embarking on any ship, craft, boat, and vessel in the port of Iligan.


The Executive Order was issued to minimize the risk of the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).


As of 2:00 PM of March 17, the City Health Office reported that 169 individuals were identified as Persons under Monitoring while 10 are Persons under Investigation. (APB/PIA ICIC)
