Iligan’s Delta variant tally hits 9; CHO logs 3 new cases

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–A total of nine cases of the highly contagious Delta variant has already been recorded here as more cases were added.

City Health Office – Emergency Operations Center (CHO-EOC) Health Cluster Manager Dr. Belinda Lim confirmed in a public briefing Wednesday that three new cases of the variant have been added following the released positive result of the patients’ genome sequencing.

“Before, duna naman kitay duha ka Delta variant [cases]. Gisundan kini adtong August og upat [ka cases]. As of September 5, 2021, nadungagan ang atong Delta variant [cases] og tulo, so we have a total of 9,” she said.

[Before, we already had two Delta variant [cases]. These were followed in August by four [cases]. As of September 5, 2021, three more were added to our Delta variant [cases], so we have a total of 9.]

Lim disclosed that the three cases were labeled IC#2995, IC#3030, and IC3017.

Accordingly, IC#2995, a 59-year old female resident of Brgy. Dalipuga and a housewife, has unknown exposure and four close contacts who are presently asymptomatic while IC#3030 is a 56-year old female resident of Brgy. Mahayahay and a public teacher with unknown exposure as well and one close contact.

Meanwhile, IC#3017 is a 45-year old female resident of Brgy. Tibanga and a vendor who was exposed to her 48-year old live-in partner known to be IC# 2942. The patient was noted to have three close contacts including her partner who was still positive of COVID-19 as of the conducted Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test on August 13 while the remaining contacts were asymptomatic.

Addressing the presence of the variant in the city and the surge of the COVID-19 cases, City Mayor Celso Regencia issued Executive Order No. 217, series of 2021 imposing again the color-coded quarantine pass and the respective schedules of barangays allowing access to essential goods and services effective 12:01 am of September 8 until 30.

Per the COVID-19 briefer dated September 7, the city already breached the 800 record tallying 815 total active cases brought by 35 new cases, five deaths, two suspect deaths, and just eleven recoveries. (CRG/PIA Lanao del Norte)
