ILPI energizes off-grid zones in Iligan

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – Amid the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic,  Iligan Light and Power, Inc. (ILPI), the electric utility company of Iligan City, continues its service powering two more zones in Brgy. Hindang in the city Friday, Jan. 22.

Of the 11 zones in the remote barangay, Zones 3 and 5 were electrified during the 2nd energization of the ILPI in the area as 5 zones have already been powered during the 1st energization, to wit, Zones 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10 giving the residents a rewarding life.

Brgy. Hindang and its constituents through Barangay Captain Edwin Gutierrez extended their gratitude for the fast response of the ILPI to their needs.

“Dako kog pasalamat tungod kay ang mga tao nga gapanghinanglan gikan sa Zone 7, tanan mga sudlunon, nasudlan gyud sa Iligan Light. Daghang salamat gyud sa tanan,” Gutierrez expressed

[I am very thankful because the people who are in need from Zone 7 and all those remote areas were reached by Iligan Light. Thank you very much to all.]

Barangay Councilor Samuel Bagares, former Barangay Infrastructure Committee head, magnified the apparent impact of the supplied electricity by ILPI, especially to the aspect of education and peace and order.

“Dako kaayo nig ikatabang ang kuryente ilabi na sa mga estudyante karon nga nagmodule… importante kaayo ang suga then kanang cellphone ma-charge [para sa mga nag-online class] mao nang importante kaayo. Salamat sa ILPI,” Bagares cited.

[This electricity is a big help especially to the students who are having modules… the light is very important so cellphones can be charged [for those who have online classes] that is why it is so important. Thank you ILPI.]

“Lisod gyud kaayo sa peace and order… dapat hayag gyud imong palibot. Karon, okay na kaayo ilang paminaw,” he added.

“It is difficult for peace and order… the environment should be bright. Now, they are already feeling okay.]

With the energization, 67 more households will benefit after they process their application for their electricity connection.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the ILPI’s 1st energization also expressed their utmost appreciation for experiencing easy life with the supplied electricity.

“Nagpasalamat gyud kaayo mi sa ILPI nga sa kadugay sa panahon, since birth, 37 years old nako karon, kami nasigaan intawon… hayag na gyud kaayo mi then saba na, bibo na,” said Patricia Lacar of Zone 7.

[We are really thanking ILPI because after a long time, since birth and I am already 37 years old now, we are already powered… we are already bright then it is already noisy, already fun.]

Further, Barangay Councilor Sonny Namatay, Barangay Peace and Order Committee Head and also a beneficiary from Zone 7, mentioned how thankful he is when energization started.

“Ang tinuod, dako kaayo kog pasalamat nga bisan pa man sa kalayo sa amo sa kalsada, naabtan gyud mi sa suga… panahon sa gabii, hayahay na among paminaw… in terms pud sa mga payments, sa bayrunon, although nakabayad namig kaduha na, ubos-ubos ra gyud pud ang ILPI,” Namatay shared.

[The truth is I am really thankful that despite how far our location is from the main road, we are reached by the light… during the night, we already feel relaxed… in terms with the payments also, although we have already paid twice, bills from ILPI were just very low.]

With the ongoing electrification of ILPI in far-flung areas, more zones in Brgy. Hindang will be energized until all the 11 zones will be powered. (CRG/ PIA-ICIC)
