Islamic Relief distributes food packs in Ditsaan-Ramain

LANAO DEL SUR, Apr. 13 (PIA)–Islamic Relief distributed halal-certified food packs consisting of 20 kilos of rice, oil, mung bean, native coffee, sugar, sardines, and corned beef to 2,312 households in Ditsaan Ramain town of this province.

Being one of the municipalities in the province that hosts a huge number of home-based internally displaced persons affected by the Marawi siege, Ditsaan Ramain is one of the target areas of the faith-inspired international humanitarian and development organization for the distribution. 

Through its Ramadan program, Islamic Relief aims to expand the food security of poor and vulnerable household members especially in areas affected or prone to natural disasters and conflict.

The beneficiaries include households in 23 barangays of the town. They were selected based on the following criteria: income P5,000 and below, women-headed households, lactating mothers, pregnant, those with children aged 5 and below,  person with a disability / senior citizen member in the household, accessibility to the market (difficult access to the market).

Maybank and Islamic Relief Malaysia donated the packs for 275 households in Brgy. Barimbingan and Gadongan while the remaining  2,037 packs are donated by Islamic Relief Worldwide to 21 barangays. 

To recall, at least 13,700 households throughout Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have benefitted from Islamic Relief’s food pack distribution during Ramadan since 2017. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
