Janssen COVID-19 vaccines arrive in NorMin

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—As the demand for vaccines persists, northern Mindanao gets a shipment of Janssen COVID-19 vaccines, July 19.

“We received 25,660 vials of Janssen COVID-19 vaccines from the national government, which are intended for the A2 and A3 population,” says Dr. David Mendoza, DOH-10 Local Health Support Division chief.

He said Janssen vaccines are made by the Janssen Pharmaceutical Company, a subsidiary of the Johnson and Johnson group, and are the only ‘Single-dose’ COVID-19 vaccine type.

With a viral vector recombinant component platform, one vial of the vaccine may inoculate five persons or is equivalent to five doses. While its storage temperature requirement ranges from two to eight degrees celsius, it is similar to the Sinovac vaccines that the region has been receiving.

The national government has designated the vaccine distribution to the following provinces and cities in the region: Bukidnon (5,130 vials); Camiguin (510); Lanao del Norte (3,850); Misamis Occidental (1,790); Misamis Oriental (3,850); Cagayan de Oro City (4,110); Iligan City (1,790); Malaybalay City (920); Valencia City (1,020); Oroquieta City (380); Ozamis City (890); Tangub City (370); El Salvador City (380); and Gingoog City (670).
