Lanao del Norte imposes community quarantine

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Mar. 17 (PIA) — Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo has signed Executive Order (EO) No. 5. declaring ‘community quarantine’ and creating the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19.


Under the EO, all public events and gatherings, such as meetings, conferences, conventions, trainings, parties, faith-based and religious gatherings, and other social activities of the same nature are strictly prohibited.


All pre-schools, elementary, junior and senior high school, as well as tertiary and postgraduate classes in both public and private schools in the entire province, are also suspended from March 17 to March 30, 2020.


The Order also provides for the sanitation and disinfection of all public and private offices and establishments and adoption for alternative work arrangements.


Dimaporo also ordered all individuals with a history of travel to places with confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 to undergo a mandatory home quarantine for 14 days starting from the day of their arrival in the province. 


The Governor also directed all officials and employees who are delivering basic services to cancel all their official travels outside the province, effective today, March 17, except travels concerning the management and /or prevention of transmission of COVID-19, African Swine Fever, and Polio. All approved travel orders of provincial officials and employees before the issuance of EO No. 5 are also canceled.


The Order also restricts all public and private vehicles that are not bound to any of the municipalities of Lanao del Norte and will only pass through any of the barangays and municipalities of the province to make any stopover, except on designated areas for a stopover to be identified by the concerned municipal government unit.


Moreover, all local chief executives in the province are instructed to establish a single-point unloading area in their respective municipalities for all buses passing through which has originated from places with confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. They are also ordered to implement thermal scanning and registration of all persons who arrived at the designated unloading area.


The Order was issued by the Provincial Government in response to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Proclamation declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the country and ordering all government agencies and local government units to cooperate and mobilize necessary resources to combat the coronavirus.  (APB/PIA ICIC)
