Lanao Sur guv confirms construction works in Marawi continues despite COVID-19

MARAWI CITY (PIA) — Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto-Adiong Jr. backed the statement of Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) chairman and Housing Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario that rehabilitation works in Marawi City still continues amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.


“Ang mga construction sa Marawi ay nag-umpisa na kahit ang pandemya ay nagdulot ng problem sa ating mga manggagawa na galing pa sa Iligan City at Cagayan de Oro,” said Governor Adiong during the Laging Handa Public Briefing.


The Governor said the rehabilitation of the 18.97-kilometer Marawi Transcentral Road is now on-going.


According to him, the project which is clustered in three contract packages is about 60 to 70 percent complete.


The project was funded under the P970 million grant from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency.


Earlier in the briefing, Secretary Del Rosario also assured that massive rehabilitation of Marawi City would be completed within the target deadline. 


He said the rehabilitation works are expected to go full blast starting July this year with the approval of the P3.56 billion budget for rehabilitation projects  (APB/PIA ICIC)
