MARAWI CITY  (PIA)–Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra expressed satisfaction with the progress of the rehabilitation efforts for the city.

“Sa ngayon, very inspiring iyong ating nakikita na ginagawa ng ating gobyerno lalo na sa ground zero dahil nakikita natin na iyong mga imprastraktura na ipinapatayo ay within the timeline,” he said.

[Right now, it’s very inspiring to see what our government doing especially in ground zero, because we see that the infrastructures being built are within the timeline.]

Gandamra is optimistic that the target completion of December 2021 will be accomplished.

The local chief executive also pointed out to set aside politics in terms of the reconstruction efforts for the city.

“Ang pulitika ay iba sa ating pagpapaayos sa Marawi kaya regardless kung nandito ako o wala, tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang pagpapagawa ng Marawi dahil ito ay commitment ng ating pangulo ng ating national government na tapusin ang imprastraktura na ginagawa sa ang Marawi,” he said.

[Politics is different from the rehabilitation in Marawi so regardless of whether I am here or not, the reconstruction of Marawi will still continue because it is the commitment of our president  and of our national government which is to finish the infrastructure that is being built in Marawi.]

To monitor the full blast implementation of the rehabilitation efforts, Task Force Bangon Marawi Chairperson Sec. Eduardo del Rosario together with Gandamra, Usec. Zyril Carlos and Asec. Felix Castro Jr. conducted another inspection of the ongoing construction of infrastructures, permanent shelters, and rehabilitation of mosques .

Some of the infrastructures inspected are the road networks, traffic command center, Grand Padian Market, School of Living Tradition, Marawi Museum, Peace Memorial Park, Barangay Complex of Datu Naga and Datu sa Dansalan. The repair of Sultan Macabando Mosque and Marawi Grand Mosque were also inspected.

“Last month, I said it [the rehabilitation] was about 40% [completed], I can say now that it is about 45 to 50 %,” said Del Rosario.

For the permanent housing project of the National Housing Authority, UN-Habitat and Social Housing Finance Corporation, the construction sites in Brgy. Kilala, Brgy Mipantao Gadongan and Barangay Dulay Proper.
