LGU Marawi sets up decontamination tents as a precaution against COVID-19

MARAWI CITY, Mar. 31 (PIA) — The city government of Marawi installed decontamination tents to bolster health measures against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The walk-through decontamination tents will disinfect individuals entering the city. These are installed at the Marawi City Hall, Emie Punud-Sagonsongan intersection, and in the boundaries of Marantao and Ramain, Lanao del Sur.

Increasing safety protocols amid the public health crisis, the tents have foot baths and a diffuser system that sprays disinfectants whenever a person walks in.

Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra also called for the unity and the discipline of the residents after a new curfew has been implemented which is from 4:00 pm to 6:00 am.

“Hindi kaya ng isang tao, ng isang grupo ang pagresolba ng problemang ito. Kakayanin natin ito sama-sama tayo, magtutulungan tayo,” said Gandamra.
[Solving this problem cannot be achieved by one person, by one group. We are able to solve this if we work together, if we help each other.]
“Ang mga polisiya ay kailangang sundin dahil ito ay ginagawa para sa atin, hindi para isuppress ang ating freedom to move, kundi isuppress ang movement ng virus,” Gandamra added.
[The policies should be followed because they are being implemented for us, not to suppress our freedom to move but to suppress the movement of the virus.]

The decontamination tents are being manned by the different local government units of the city such as the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, General Services Office, City Engineering Office, and the Marawi City Police Office. (LELA/ PIA ICIC)
