LGU Ozamiz joins national vaccination drive

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—In support to the three-day national vaccination drive, the City Government of Ozamiz joined the Bayanihan Bakunahan, national vaccination day in four areas: Barangay Aguada Covered Court, Our Lady of Triumph Gymnasium, Barangay Doña Consuelo Covered Court and Malaubang Covered Court.

At least 1,400 individuals are target to be vaccinated daily from 12-17 years old and 18 years old above per vaccination site.

“The City of Ozamiz is one with our country in ramping up COVID-19 vaccination nationwide. Hence, let us unite ourselves and join in the campaign to inoculate more people by participating in the national COVID-19 vaccination days with the theme, “Bayanihan Bakunahan: Ligtas. Lakas. Buong Pinas,” Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal said.

In an interview, Ozamiz City Health Officer Dr. Holly Tago said the November 29 to December 1 vaccination days is aimed to reach herd immunity by the end of the year.

 “Kini atong pagbakuna gahatag kini ug proteksyon kanato against COVID-19, especially karon nga naa na pud new variant but ang atoa ug ang goal sa national government nga ma-reach nato ang herd immunity before Christmas nga ang usa ka pamilya kumpleto, bakunado ug protektado para sa COVID-19,” Tago said.  

(This vaccine will give us protection against COVID-19, especially now that there is a new variant but in our own and the goal of the national government is that we can reach the herd immunity before Christmas that a family is complete, vaccinated and protected for COVID -19)

Tago urged Ozamiznons to get vaccinated as this is the best solution to COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ang akong awhag sa tanan katawhan sa Ozamiz gikan sa 12 anyos ang edad hangtod sa atong mga lolo ug lola nga wala pa nagpabakuna na kung unsa man gali ang mga fake news nga inyong nadungog, daghan na kaayo ang nagpabakuna. Hinaot nga kamo muuban kanamo niining atong programa sa atong pagpaningkamot nga kita gyud mabakunahan para mubalik na atong ekonomiya dinhi sa Ozamiz City,” she said.

(I urge all the people of Ozamiz from 12 years old, including senior citizens who have never been vaccinated no matter how bad the fake news you hear, so many are already vaccinated. I hope you will join us in our program as we strive to ensure that we get vaccinated so that our economy will recover and will be able to get back to normal here in Ozamiz City)

Tago also announced that the City of Ozamiz exceeded 70% of 1st dose vaccination while 2nd dose or fully vaccinated reached 50%.

First and second doses of Pfizer for the pediatric population as well as the first and second doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and Sinovac for A1 to A5 categories will be available in the vaccination areas in the city.

The target population in Ozamiz City for 70% herd immunity is at 104,123 and for the national vaccination drive targets to vaccinate 5,358 individuals from November 29 to December 1. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
