LOPEZ JAENA, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–Families that were not included in the list of recipients of the the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Social Amelioration Program (SAP) will receive a cash of P1 thousand and 25 kilos of rice from the municipal government.
Mayor Michael Gutierrez said this is the only way that he will be able to meet the expectation of his constituents who are expecting a financial assistance of P6 thousand from the national government.
Gutierrez said that there are only 2,830 qualified families on DSWD’s list from the municipality’s 28 barangays.
“This is the number of recipients from DSWD, so I couldn’t do something about it,” Gutierrez said. So, he decided to give 25 kilos of rice for each family not found in DSWD’s list.
Gutierrez organized three teams to cater to three barangay clusters such as the ten barangays from the rural areas, the seven barangays along the highways and the eleven barangays near the town proper.
Mayor Gutierrez together with police and military personnel and other town officials personally handed the cash assistance and 25 kilos of head rice to the families. (SMRN/PIA10)
