Mambajao sets decontamination tents at entry points
Limiting the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, the Municipal Government of Mambajao has established four decontamination tents at different entry points, March 26.

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA)–Limiting the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, the Municipal Government of Mambajao has established  four decontamination tents at different entry points, March 26.

These four decontamination tents are located at the entry point of Barangay Tupsan (eastern part of Mambajao), Barangay Naasag (western part), entry point of Mambajao Public Market, and entry point of the Municipal Office, Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo said.

Dr. Lyndon Aclan, Municipal Health Office head doctor, said a decontamination tent will limit the spread of contaminants, such as viruses and bacteria, present in the body including those responder’s and their equipment.

A decontamination tent works through isolation of contaminants. It entails physical and chemical removal. This process includes removing contaminated equipment and clothing and leaving it at the decontamination area.

Aclan said that solution used in the disinfection is composed of 90 percent water and 10 percent sodium hypochlorite. It is 80 to 90 percent effective and no adverse effects to the human body.

A decontamination tent is capable of neutralizing chemical and biological agents’ safely, which means it is non-toxic and non-corrosive.

Some of the advantages of this include zero production of toxic end products, affordable, non-irritating, hypo-allergenic, easy to dispose, and safe to the eyes.

Though decontamination tents entail competent personnel handling, the fact that it is safe and effective, it is needed to minimize the spread of the virus and ultimately contain it. (Marc Ian A. Salem/PIA 10)
