Marawi LGU orders cancellation of school activities, tuition fee collection

MARAWI CITY (PIA) – The city government of Marawi directed that all off-site school activities implemented by all private schools and higher education institutions operating in the city, including online exams and tuition fee collection, be stopped.

In an executive order released today, Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra explained that the cancellation aims “to ensure that grades of the affected students will not be adversely affected because of the limitations inherent in the currently enhanced community quarantine.”

He also said this order was implemented due to the concerns raised by parents and students enrolled in different institutions in the city.

With the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in the city due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat, classes are suspended and students are advised to stay in their homes.

The city government also changed the curfew hours to 6:00 pm until 6:00 am to limit the movement of the residents and thus curbing the spread of COVID-19. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
