OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–The residents of Ozamiz City and Second District of Misamis Occidental can now avail the free reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing offered by Second District Rep. Henry Oaminal in a bid to address the increasing number of infections in the city and province.
The free RT-PCR test aims to quickly identify and isolate individuals who are COVID-19 positive.
“If you are a resident of Ozamiz City, you just follow the proper procedure to be endorsed by LGUs [local government units] and you will be charged free for this RT-PCR. The same goes for residents of the second district of Misamis Occidental,” Oaminal said.
He added that he downloaded funds to Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center (MHARS-MC) in order to cover COVID-19 cases, medicines, and any other needs that could no longer be shouldered by the operations of MHARS-MC.
“The P30 million that I had downloaded, which was acknowledged already by the management of MHARS-MC, will cover the charges of the residents of the second district,” Oaminal said.
As regulated by the Department of Health (DOH), the examination fee or maximum cost for the RT-PCR test is pegged at P3,800 and the LGU is hoping that the Asenso Ozamiz Molecular Biology Laboratory could still lower the price. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
