MisOcc solon reports major accomplishments in 9th SODA

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–Second District Rep. Henry Oaminal cited major accomplishments during his 9th State of District Address (SODA), October 4 at Medina Gym, Ozamiz City, which highlighted health, infrastructure development, education, ecotourism, and provision of financial assistance in Misamis Occidental

The budget allocated in the district is P3 billion per year starting 2015 up to 2022.

“Since 2013, a total of P21,088,831,481.37 has been allocated for the development of municipal roads, provincial roads, and barangay roads. This includes multi-purpose buildings in all barangays, school buildings, barangay health stations, irrigation and flood control projects, airport and seaport development among many others,” Oaminal shared.

About 30 percent of the yearly P3 billion budget for infrastructure is for the salary of workers, which means P900 million annually circulates in the local economy, he added.

Further, the district was able to get P700 million from 2014 to 2021 from Social Amelioration Program which consists of P200 million medical assistance under Department of Health (DOH), P300 million for Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), burial assistance under Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and P200 million for “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers” TUPAD under Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

For health and hospital services, Oaminal pushed for Republic Act No.10865, An Act Converting the Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in the Province of Misamis Occidental into a Medical Center to be Known as the Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center. Meanwhile, he also helped to increase the bed capacity of the hospital through Republic Act no.11563, an act increasing the bed capacity of the Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center 500 to 1000 beds capacity.

The representative also passed Republic Act 11186 an act converting the Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSCST) in the city of Tangub, province of Misamis Occidental into a State University to be known as the University of Northwestern Mindanao.

To provide assistance for skills development and additional financial assistance to qualified beneficiaries, Oaminal tapped the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which resulted in over P200 million funding support since 2014 up to the present.

“This effort uplifted the quality of life here, the growth of infrastructure gives employment, and availability of financial resources to every family,” he said.

In line with the Build Build Build program, Oaminal also reported the allocation of P7.2 billion for the Panguil Bay Bridge project, P1.7 billion for Mt. Malindang Second District Eco-Tourism Highway connecting Sinacaban and Don Victoriano, meanwhile, P500 million is allocated for Ozamiz seaport and P300 million modernization of airport.

Further, P1 billion is allocated for the Usogan and Migcanaway river control project, P300 million for drainages in Tangub, P350 million Clarin river control and slope protection project and the allocation of P650 million for Ozamiz City drainage.

He also commended efforts for the peace and order in the province.

“Through strong efforts of the police force in line with the thrust of President Duterte to eradicate drugs and criminality in the country, peace and order are restored in the district and the City of Ozamiz is no longer a haven of illegal drugs but is now transformed as the center of growth and development in our district,” he said.
