MisOr hospitals now on code red, PIATF chief says

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)—As COVID-19 spread continues unabated in Misamis Oriental (MisOr), the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) Chief and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Jerie Calingasan broke the news on Monday that all MisOr provincial hospitals are now on Code Red alert due to the surge of patients infected with the deadly virus.

“Our eight hospitals are already teeming with patients. This status was greatly aggravated as many of our frontline healthcare workers have already been infected and are being isolated and quarantined. Hence, our eight Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospitals are now under Code Red,” the PIATF chief said.

A Code Red warning simply means that the healthcare system’s limit has been reached and that drastic actions are required to solve the problem.

Latest data showed that the province has a total of 8,765 COVID-19 cases, with 1,321 active cases, and 186 new cases. Despite the reported number of COVID-infected persons, Calingasan is optimistic that people can beat off the coronavirus attack if everyone follows health protocols and guidelines imposed by health authorities.

Calingasan, on the other hand, thanked vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez and the Department of Health for the vaccines received, specifically 780 vials of Pfizer and 7,500 vials of Sinovac. (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
