More than 10K MisOr teens, kids get COVID jabs

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)—The Misamis Oriental Provincial Health Office (MisOr-PHO) recorded 10,036 children aged 12-17 as the province rolled out its COVID-19 “pediatric vaccination” that started November 5.

With the target population of 108,661 children at 12-17 years old to be inoculated, PHO is expecting that the vaccination will pick up its pace for the following days and a significant increase in the vaccination turnout for this ‘pediatric’ category.

The top five municipalities in Misamis Oriental that recorded the most number of vaccinated children are as follows: Villanueva-855; Manticao-740; Balingasag-668; Jasaan-652 and Tagoloan-646. The rest of the towns, likewise, continue to push for the children’s massive vaccination in order to hit their respective targets.

Dr. Jerie Calingasan, Misamis Oriental health chief, said the pediatric vaccination is ongoing throughout its different municipalities and cities.

With hopes to inoculate all the Misamisnon children who belong to the said category, Calingasan urges parents to bring their 12 to 17 year-old children to the nearest vaccination sites and avail of this government’s offer.

He said that “though the vaccines are not infection blockers, it will still provide additional defense from being severely infected that may lead to death.” (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
