Moreno: Careful planning in CDO’s vaccine rollout

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 14 (PIA)–The people of Cagayan de Oro need not fear that they will be left behind by other cities in the vaccine rollout since their City Hall is ‘on the ball’ in mapping out the city’s vaccination program, Mayor Oscar Moreno said.

“Ang gusto nako mahibaw-an sa (katawhan sa Cagayan de Oro), ayaw kabalaka kay (I want to tell the people of Cagayan de Oro, don’t be worried because) we in City Hall are very much on top of the ball. In fact our target and mission is maayo ang pagkaplano sa atong vaccine rollout sa dakbayan (to ensure the proper planning and implementation of our vaccine rollout in the city),” Moreno said.

The mayor reiterated his assurance during Wednesday noon’s press briefing after disclosing that he had a conversation with (Court of Appeals Mindanao Executive) Justice Romy Borja who voiced his concern over the city’s vaccine rollout program.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said a task force will be set up within this week to map out the details of the city’s vaccination program.

Moreno said he knows how important it is for the city’s vaccination program to succeed not only for the people of Cagayan de Oro City but for neighboring local governments in Misamis Oriental and northern Mindanao.

“Kung maayo atong pagplano (if our planning is good) our vaccine rollout program will be replicated in the other parts of the region,” Moreno said.
In setting the example to Misamis Oriental province and the rest of Region 10, Moreno said the COVID-19 pandemic taught Kagay-anons not to be parochial and unsympathetic to the plight of their neighbors in northern Mindanao because what happens to them will also impact on the city. “Kinahanglan tinabangay ta tanan (We need to help each other),” the mayor added.
